A phrase in Gujarati, a language found in the state Gujarat in India. The English translation is "Decisions are made by those who show up."
I wanted to explore the shapes of the letterforms through negative space and cross-hatching.
From the hatching, I wanted to explore mediums that would mimic that in the 3d space. I took a piece of fabric and used a sewing machine to "cross-hatch" thread lines onto the fabric. At this point, I was still in "play" mode and decided I'd lean in and smear playdough and 3D scan it in.
These posters were created after discovering the translation. They were designed to connect the earlier abstract concepts to the translation and serve as a call to action for young academic voters, reminding them why voting matters.
